From my earlier posts, I shared how I was able to reduce my high blood pressure to 130/80. It used to be as high as 166/98. After I started on a daily exercise routine, I managed to lower it and stop my medication completely.
Now I feel healthier without the side effects of those medication. However, I was wondering if I could reduce my blood pressure even lower so that it is in an optimal range.
I did some more research and fould that by taking Omega-3 fatty acids can reduce blood pressure.
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids. The body needs these substances but is unable to manufacture them. So, they must be taken from food. Cold-water fish and flaxseed provide ample supply of this essential nutrient.
Studies suggest that diets high in omega-3 fatty acids or dietary supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids can reduce blood pressure (Hirafuji M et al 2003). It appears that omega-3 fatty acids have a direct widening effect on blood vessels (Din JN et al 2004). As the blood vessels are widened, blood flow increases and blood pressure is reduced.
I highly recommend a daily dosage of this supplement. After taking it daily for 3 months, my blood pressure drops to as low as 108/69. Click here for more information on this health supplement.

How I Overcame Hypertension
I found physical exercise to be a good way to reduce hypertention, especially aerobic exercises such as running or cycling.

I found physical exercise to be a good way to reduce hypertention, especially aerobic exercises such as running or cycling.
I decided to start on a regular exercise routine. After some stretching and warming up exercises, I would cycle for 30 minutes. This was done 3 times a week. I began at a slow pace because I was not used to doing regular exercises. After a couple of weeks, I was able to increase my pace without over-straining my body. Gradually, I increased my cycling time from 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Eventually I increased the exercise frequency from 3 time to 5 times a week.
All the while I monitored my blood pressure with an electronic blood pressure monitor. I would take several readings during each day. At the beginning of my exercise program, the readings were normal. That’s because I was under medication. However, after 3 months my blood pressure readings drop to optimal levels. This was good news because I was able to stop my medication.
My blood pressure readings went up after that. They went up from optimal to normal. I continued with my exercise routine without medication. To this very day, I don’t take any medication and have maintained a normal blood pressure. It has been effectively managed by physical exercise.
In a future post, I’ll share how I reduce my blood pressure even further to optimal levels without any medication.
My Experience With Hypertension

Because of a hectic schedule, I have been cutting down on the number of hours of sleep each day. On somes days I have barely 4 hours of sleep. However, I never had any high blood pressure problems before. So when my health screen results showed that I was midly hypertensive, I ignored it thinking that it was due to a lack of sleep the night before.
The same thing happened the following year. My health screening results showed an even higher blood pressure reading. Again I ignored it as the problem don’t seem to be serious enough for me althouigh I was advised to seek medical treatment within a month. Instead, I resolved to have adequate sleep the night before the next year’s health screening date.
I did sleep early the night before the following year’s health screening appointment. However, this time the blood pressure reading got much worse. It was 166/98. I was told to seek treatment within 2 weeks. This time, I took it seriously and went to the doctor’s office.
I was put on daily medication. The medication worked. My blood pressure drops to normal. My doctor told me that I’ll need to be on medication for a very long time, possibly for life. But I don’t like the idea of having to take medication daily with its side-effects and costs. So I went around and look for a solution besides medication.
I found one.

We need to be aware of the dangers of high blood pressure.
When high blood pressure is not properly managed, the patient becomes vulnerable to various types of health problems due to their hypertension. The effects of this increased blood pressure in any person depend very much on the type of organ affected.
The dangers of high blood pressure get more complicated if the patient also suffers from some concurrent diseases. Differential diagnosis becomes very difficult for the doctor who is treating these hypertensive patients.
One of the dangers of high blood pressure is in the blood vessels supplying the eyes. They may be severely affected by the increased pressure. As a result, the patient is in danger of losing their vision.
The heart region can also become affected; therefore high blood pressure can also cause severe heart problems. The affected person may have disruptions in the blood flow within their heart because of leakage or rupture in the bloof vessels in the heart.
Mostly, the arteries have to face the impact of high blood pressure. In addition, the heart has to pump blood with vigorous effect in order to compensate for the blood leakage and, in the process, there is a danger of the patient developing a blood clot.
If a patient is unaware they are suffering form high blood pressure, then their condition is obviously left untreated until such a time as when they may have a sudden medical emergency such as heart attack or stroke, this could then lead to a potentially fatal situation.
Hypertension can also affect the cerebral tissues. If the patient is not treated, they may show signs of damage to the nervous system such as convulsions, ataxia or impaired coherence in talking. Even, brain death may happen in some vulnerable patients with severe hypertension and this has been documented in several occasions.
Some patients may develop ulcers in the gastro-intestinal regions, thus adding further medical problems to patients already suffering from other medical ailments due to prolonged hypertension. Depression is often noted as one of the dangers of high blood pressure, probably due to increased effects arising from secondary effects of increased blood pressure on various organs of the body.
